# tutorial 01.
[info]wearmedown asked some tips for a gemma ward's icon of mine.
made with PHOTOSHOP CS3; don't think it is translatable.

->

1. start with a base:

2. duplicate your base and set the mode on OVERLAY @ 30%:
->

3. duplicate your base again and set the mode on SCREEN @ 30%:
->

4. make a new curves layer and set the mode on SOFTLIGHT:
RGB
INPUT: 106;
OUTPUT: 150;
RED
INPUT: 115;
OUTPUT: 137;
GREEN
(first point)
INPUT: 164;
OUTPUT: 181;
(second point)
INPUT: 114;
OUTPUT: 130;
(third point)
INPUT: 67;
OUTPUT: 100;
BLUE
INPUT: 82;
OUTPUT: 142;

->

5. make a new selective color layer with this settings:
REDS
CYAN: -100;
MAGENTA: 0;
YELLOW: +100;
BLACK: 0;
YELLOWS
CYAN: -53;
MAGENTA: +22;
YELLOW: +100;
BLACK: +100;
NEUTRALS
CYAN: +8;
MAGENTA: -7;
YELLOW: -5;
BLACK: 0;
BLACKS
CYAN: 0;
MAGENTA: 0;
YELLOW: 0;
BLACK: +49;
->

6. make a new photo filter layer with this settings:
->

7. make a new levels layer with this settings:
RGB
INPUT: 25 - 0,94 - 250;
OUTPUT: 28 - 255;
->

5. make a new selective color layer with this settings:
BLACKS
CYAN: 0;
MAGENTA: 0;
YELLOW: 0;
BLACK: +100;
->

that's all =)

i don't think so. probably, the only difference is the color °_°. but everything works in the same way.

ok, instead of the photo filter layer, create a new solid color layer fill with #00b5ff and set the mode on OVERLAY @ 15%.
then, continue with the levels layer and the selective layer :).

let me know :).

This is a great tut, thanks for posting!
Although when you use the blue and red curves, you have to click on the point in the top right corner and edit its settings, or else you get a different (reddish) colouring.:)

No it's not you, I just saw that some people had problems with curves and I figured what they might do wrong.
They get this instead of the one in your picture. They should use the point seen here (the arrow indicates it) and edit that one instead of creating a new point. I thought this would be some help for them if they couldn't figure it out themselves.
